Choice Neighborhood Initiatives (CNI) People Implementation Plan

Eliminating intergenerational poverty is a primary goal of PHA’s Resident Partnerships and Programs Division. Towards this end, PHA is partnering with residents and mission-driven partners to:

  • Increase financial literacy and family asset building

  • Train and place residents in career-oriented, living wage jobs

  • Provide attainable, affordable first-time homeownership opportunities

  • Nurture small business development

People Pillar Plan
The goal of the People Plan as part of the transformation of the Sharswood/Blumberg neighborhood is to ensure that families within the community have opportunities for improved health, safety, employment, and education.

These services are provided in the newly renovated Vaux Community Building located at 2400 Master Street.

Vaux Community Building
The Former Philadelphia School District middle school was built in 1930s and named for American jurist, abolitionist, and philanthropist Roberts Vaux (1786-1836). it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was closed by the school district in 2013. It was PHA by purchased and began its transformation in 2017.  In 2018 it was designated as an HUD EnVision Center and in 2019 the PHA Workforce Center Opened.

  • CNI case management & coaching

  • Multi-purpose meeting & community engagement space
